A summer internship is a special opportunity in that it gives you the chance to focus on your work more closely than you can during the school year while you have classes to deal with. For those reasons, a summer internship is a very popular option.
You may need to take up a part-time job in order to still handle a full-time internship, but the outcome is usually worth it, as an internship can directly lead to full time employment while exposing you to a new potential career path.
