Johnson & Johnson was founded as a family business in New Brunswick, NJ in 1886 with only 14 employees. It has since blossomed into a multinational holding company, as well as one that is involved in research and development and the manufacturing of healthcare-related products.

Its three primary segments are medical devices, consumer and pharmaceutical. The three Johnson brothers  Robert, James and Edward saw a need and knew they could fill it. The problem: physicians wanted to enhance and simplify hygiene while treating patients. The success was immediate, propelling the young company into stratospheric growth.

Today, J&J has nearly 130,000 employees in more than 250 locations. The company continues to recognize the need to give all employees especially interns opportunities to work on vital assignments.
