Dell Internship Program Overview

Dell’s operations are in Round Rock, Texas, which is on the outskirts of Austin. A college student, Michael Dell, who was enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin launched his company – and ran it from the comfort of his own dorm room.

His original goal was to offer customized upgrades for personal computers. Within one year, the company built and sold its first PC – the Turbo PC - for $795. In less than four decades, Dell has become a global supplier of PCs. Since Dell was founded by a student, the company envisions interns in their future.

Their goal is to find and hire the next generation of creative thinkers who don’t fit into molds. Students are assigned with real work in real business situations, have opportunities to interact with executives, and build vibrant new networks with colleagues.

Dell is intent on promoting career growth for all interns, as well as their fulltime employees. They have an aggressive, ambitious goal: that 25% of all external hires will be from college campuses by 2020.

To accomplish this, they are ramping up campus recruiting visits. Recruiters will spotlight all the dimensions of internship opportunities. Students who are too anxious to wait or who are enrolled at a college that’s not on the event list may check out Dell’s internship site. Students may also view Dell’s career calendar to see when they may be on campus.
