Netflix has had an effect on the mass media industry.

It began starting as a DVD disc rental service and DVD purchasing system that had reached people through the mail.

In 2010, Netflix decided to expand its business in an innovative way, they introduced streaming media through the internet.

Each user was allowed to have five profiles to share an account on the same monthly bill.

This not only reached a larger audience like Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean but the company actually boomed in success while retaining the rental and purchasing DVD mailing business.
