SpaceX Internship Program Overview
SpaceX has its sights on the stars; the company does more than create spacecraft and rockets. They launch them from Florida. Founded by Elon Musk in 2002, the company’s mission was to revolutionize space technology. The end goal of this private company is to one day transport humans to live on another planet.
In 2010, it successfully returned a spacecraft from orbit albeit a low one. Two years later, it made history again when its commercial spaceship named Dragon made an Uber-like cargo delivery to the International Space Station.
SpaceX is actively recruiting top talent to join its engineering and business internship programs. The company insists it will teach interns things they will never learn in a classroom.
At SpaceX, opportunities for an internship exist during the Spring, Summer and Fall these positions are located in Florida, Washington DC, California, and at their satellite development location in Seattle. Students need to ensure they are available for at a minimum of 12 weeks.
The company receives an overwhelming number of applications and it may take as long as six months before you will be contacted for a possible internship. Next, there will be several phone interviews. Be prepared to share in detail a tremendous technical accomplishment.

Eligibility
To be considered, students must be currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university or college. Most interns are college juniors and seniors, and grad students.
The preferred candidate will have a 3.5 or higher GPA and possess intermediate Windows Operations Systems skills.
To be considered for a technical position, the candidate should have direct experience working with engineering project teams or have had a previous, similar internship.
For business operations roles, the applicant should have prior experience, either work or an internship.
The U.S. Government mandates that be a ‘U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. or be eligible to obtain necessary authorization from the U.S. State Department.
